How to lose weight
How to lose weight

There are so many diet plans out there, it can be very difficult to choose the right one for you. Low fat or low carb? High protein or low calorie? Slimming club or meal replacement plan? Although each diet plan with suit different people in different ways, in general, five of the best weight loss plans are as follows:

Weight Watchers
One of the most successful weight loss programs in the world, Weight Watchers has helped millions of women achieve permanent weight loss. The Weight Watchers plan allows you to eat practically anything you like, as long as it's in moderation. You are allowed to consume a set number of points per day depending on your weight and goals (with foods ranked according to their nutritional content) .It promotes sensible eating as well as regular exercise. The weekly meetings provide motivation and support to help you meet your goals.

South Beach Diet
The South Beach Diet is another sensible way to lose weight. The plan differentiate between good and bad carbs, and therefore heavily restricts the so called bad one. Unlike plans such as Atkins, good carbs are not treated in the say way. Most of the theory on which the diet is based, will help you shift those pounds in a healthy, controlled fashion. The only downside of the South Beach plan is that is doesn't place enough emphasis on exercising as well as eating healthily.

Slimfast
The Slimfast liquid meal replacement diet has proved successful with millions of women, all over the world. The diet involves replacing your normal food with specially developed Slimfast shakes, bars, snacks and packaged meals. On the whole, the plan promotes a healthy balanced diet with the focus on portion size and calorie content. The plan's recommendation of at least 30 minutes of exercise each day is also to be applauded. The downside to the Slimfast plan is that it can become very boring, and the specially designed meals and products can become expensive.

Volumetrics
The Volumetrics plan is not one of the most well known dieting programs but that doesn't mean it's not worth trying. On the contrary, Volumetrics is a highly recommended weight loss plan that can achieve realistic long term results without putting your health at risk. It involves consuming low calorie foods in enough quantities to fill you up, and therefore lower your daily calorie consumption. No food groups are prohibited so you can still enjoy the occasional treat. Take a look at more information on the volumetrics plan. It may not be right for everyone but it is an excellent choice for long term weight loss.

However, even although the above diet plans can help you to lose weight, it's worth noting that the best way to lose weight is by simply eating a healthy, balanced diet and exercising regularly. It's easy to become overwhelmed with all the diet advice out there, with different tips and recommendations coming at you from all angles. They key to losing weight is to use common sense, and make the right food choices. It's not very exciting but it's the best way to long term weight loss.

Engera or Injera as it's usually called is a low calorie American-Style Ethiopian Bread that can be used as part of a healthy, balance diet to help you lose weight.

Nice hub Fiona. I especially like your conclusion. Losing weight is really simple and as you said not so exciting. It is just eating healthy basics, which is cutting out or reducing to a minimum high fat high sugar foods. Eating more vegetables and fruits and everything else in moderation. Making sure it is balanced and since we are all unique you can create a diet that fits you with in this healthy diet criteria. And of course exercise at least half an hour a day.

I have to make a comment on this one about the injera. Injera is my native food. I am from Ethiopia. It is just the bread we use. It is not a complete meal by itself. It is made of a tiny grain called teff. It used to be grown and eaten only in Ethiopia. It is now grown in the US and you can find it in many health food stores. Injera is a fermented bread you can eat them at the many Ethiopian restaurants in the US . It is round like a pizza and thin and sponge like. It is full of iron and it also has other nutrients. It can be part of a healthy diet if you can find it. Maybe I should do a hub on this instead. I am going on and on about it
